CYBER LAW IN INDIA

We use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in our day to day affairs and commercial purposes. Even our acts and omissions in cyberspace have wide ramifications in real world as well. This has necessitated enactment of suitable laws to govern our online transaction as well as behaviours in cyberspace. Cyber Laws is the result of such governance of use of ICT by us.

Cyber Law or Technology Laws are important part of “Legal Enablement of ICT Systems” or “Legal Framework for Information Society”. India has also enacted its cyber law in the form of Information Technology Act 2000 (IT Act 2000), as amended by the Information Technology Amendment Act 2008 (IT Act 2008).

Cyber Law of India needs good and holistic amendments to make it effective and contemporary. The present cyber law is weak and ineffective to manage the growing cyber crimes in India and worldwide. Perry4Law and PTLB have been providing their suggestions and recommendations from time to time regarding Indian Cyber law and many of them have finally found a place in the IT Act 2008, thus IT Act 2000.

Perry4Law and PTLB have also launched the First and Exclusive Techno-Legal Human Rights Protection Centre in Cyberspace in India. The same would help in the enforcement of Human Rights or Civil Liberties in Cyberspace. At the same time the Centre would also suggest suitable Cyber Laws for India so that they may be compatible with the contemporary needs of Indian society.

Some of the issues that would be dealt with by Perry4Law, PTLB and the Human Rights Centre are Data Protection Laws in India, Privacy Laws in India, E-Surveillance Regulations in India, Cyber Terrorism Laws in India, etc.

Perry4Law, PTLB and other Techno-Legal Segments of Perry4Law provide Techno-Legal Services for Cyber Law Litigation, Cyber Law Consultancy, ADR and ODR, Cyber Forensics and E-Discovery Services, Cyber Law Training and Education, E-Courts establishment and maintenance, etc. This is the Cyber Law Segment of PTLB.

Some of the allied issues that would be supported by this initiative would be Telecommunication Laws of India, Cyber Security in India, Cyber Forensics Investigations in India, Cyber Crimes Investigations in India, Serious Frauds Investigation in India, White Collar Crimes Investigations in India, Critical ICT Infrastructure Protection in India, etc.
